About a display
What goes into designing a firework display?
From the initial enquiry to leaving site after the display, we are diligent and conscientious.
Upon receiving an enquiry, we will need to ascertain certain information regarding the proposed location. This information is important as it will dictate to us the type and size of fireworks that we can use. We can gain quite a lot of useful information on the location from the various satellite maps currently available, though we may need to visit the site to clarify some details or to liaise with the venue regarding times, restrictions etc. If required we will submit a method statement and risk assessment, which some companies ask for in addition to insurance details.
Obviously one of the major factors is cost. Our minimum charge for a display is £600, within a 20 mile radius of Wakefield, over this we may charge an additional sum. £600 will give you a 5 minute display, starting with a range of barrages, going into a barrage/shell mix and ending with a shell/mine finale.
Other than our minimum costs, we don't have set prices for displays but are often led by the clients budget. A typical enquiry is "I have £XXXX and want it to last about XX minutes", that's easy as from that we can then design the display. Where a client is struggling to come up with a budget, invariably the industry standard is to quote a display per minute. Our minimum price of £600 includes not only the fireworks but the labour content and the admin side, insurance, travelling to site etc. We cost the fireworks at £80/minute for 5 minutes, therefore a 10 minute display would cost £1000. Where the event is bigger, more people are attending and a bigger WOW factor is needed, we have gone up to £300/minute for a 5 minute display but there is no limit as to costs, obviously the bigger the display and the more time and effort needed for setup and firing, our base costs increase.
Once the budget has been determined, the venue has been inspected fro safety distances and any specific client request have been taken into account we can design the display and work out the firing order and the fireworks to use.
